Even though the weather has cooled and we have had more than our fair share of rainy and freezing days down at camp, that hasn’t slowed the work going on to complete our new construction projects. We are still on track to complete construction on our Learning Center, Dining Hall, and new Village by spring so that all buildings are ready for use this summer! We wanted to share some pictures of the progress.
The new learning center is nearly complete. In the spring, we will move our Library to this space and set up STEM labs where campers will be able to learn more about the natural environment.
Work on the Dining Hall is moving right along! You can see the new Dining Hall has great features like and indoor and outdoor fireplace, a large front porch, and many windows that will look out to camp. Our old Dining Hall seated 150 people, but the New Dining Hall will seat over 300 people.
The New Village will be home to our 8th and 9th graders during camp. Currently, there are two cabins that will house 12 campers and four staff members, but as we continue to grow our programs, we have left space to build two additional cabins. The New Village also includes a new wash house that will double as a storm shelter.
In addition to these three projects, we are also building a new Health Lodge and staff cabins.
All of this work is made possible by everyone who contributed to our Way More Than Camp campaign. Because of our generous donors, volunteers, and community supporters, 48 more kids will be able to attend camp this summer. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to finishing the projects!
