Thanks to our donors, we raised $7.2 million for our Way More Than Camp campaign.

This investment ensures Sherwood Forest’s expanded impact in the community, evidence-based programs, and school-year outreach to children from low-income families and underserved communities in the St. Louis area. In addition to the above buildings, we were also able to repair our lake, add new staff housing to support our increasing programs, and add a $1 million endowment fund to help ensure Sherwood Forest’s long-term financial sustainability and to serve as the foundation for future planned-giving efforts.

The Dining Hall

Our old dining hall could only accomodate 180 individuals at a time, which limited our ability to serve more youth. Now, the new dining hall can seat 300 campers and features a state-of-the-art kitchen and a large gathering space where everyone can enjoy a meal together. The location of the dining hall is also more centrally located, allowing easier access from all cabins.

The Mac

The MAC is a state-of-the-art facility where campers can gain the critical academic skills they need to succeed. The MAC includes the Reading Room which is a devoted space for our Shire 3rd graders to participate in a reading program,  a Library utilized by every person at camp, the STEM lab where campers engage in hands-on activities centered around ecology and nature and the Technology Lab where leadership campers can confirm trip plans and staff and campers have access to computers for educational purposes

Summit Village

Our new village makes it possible for us to admit more campers each year. Summit is now the “home away from home” for our oldest campers. The village also includes a modern washhouse that also serves as a storm shelter.

comfort lodge

Our expansive health center allows our nursing team to provide high-quality care to campers and staff. It is available for groups to rent as a health center or for self suffiecient lodgings for a small group.

buder lake

Buder Lake has always been a beloved area of camp, central to activities such as canoeing and fishing that our campers enjoy at Sherwood Forest. Thanks to our Way More Than Camp campaign, we were able to restore the lake to lake to its full capacity and ensure it is safe for camp activities by replacing the spillway.
